Chelsea to announce new manager after meeting with Xabi Alonso

Chelsea have met with former Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso as part of their search for a new manager.

Alonso is among the candidates being considered for the position.

Other names on the shortlist include Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner.

The club aims to appoint a new manager before the World Cup begins in North America next month.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “Chelsea have had a direct meeting with Xabi Alonso and final decision is expected very soon. CFC plan to announce their next manager before the World Cup, talks are accelerating. Chelsea also spoke to Iraola, Glasner and Marco Silva as part of their list.”
