Chelsea have opened discussions with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as the club intensifies its search for a permanent head coach ahead of the next season.

The west‑London side is evaluating a number of candidates after the exits of Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, with Iraola emerging as a prominent option following Bournemouth’s impressive campaign.

The Spaniard has drawn attention after steering Bournemouth close to a possible European‑qualification place, a storyline widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s surprise narratives this season. Chelsea officials are reported to have met the former Rayo Vallecano coach as part of ongoing assessments by the club’s ownership group, BlueCo.

Palace rejected amid Chelsea interest

Crystal Palace have also expressed interest in Iraola, but the Bournemouth manager is reported to have declined approaches from the south‑London club.

Speaking about speculation surrounding his future, Iraola said: “I’m in no rush. I will not talk about my future. I’m fully focused on trying to finish this season with a reward, something tangible for the players and supporters.”

Palace are exploring managerial alternatives amid uncertainty surrounding Oliver Glasner, while Iraola’s immediate focus remains on Bournemouth’s remaining fixtures.

Chelsea’s interest is believed to be reinforced by agency links, as both Iraola and former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso are represented by the same management company.

Alonso, Silva also under review

Alonso continues to be a strong candidate within Chelsea’s hierarchy, with executives reportedly viewing him as capable of overseeing a long‑term rebuild at Stamford Bridge.

Marco Silva is also being monitored after another steady season with Fulham, although Fulham are said to be keen to retain him at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea are expected to reach a final decision in the coming weeks as preparations for the 2026‑27 campaign get underway.
