Chelsea matched an unwanted record in the FA Cup final after a 1‑0 loss to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
A skilful flick from Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo secured the victory for City, giving them a second domestic cup win this season.
City entered the match having lost their last two FA Cup finals, to Manchester United in 2024 and to Crystal Palace in 2025.
According to OptaJoe, Chelsea became the first team to lose four consecutive FA Cup final appearances since Leicester between 1949 and 1969.

Reece James also became only the second player to appear in four FA Cup finals and lose them all, alongside Paul Bracewell.
Chelsea’s most recent FA Cup triumph came in 2018, when they edged Manchester United 1‑0 thanks to an Eden Hazard first‑half penalty.
With this win, City have matched Chelsea’s record, securing their eighth FA Cup title.
