Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has confirmed that Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will not be available for the team’s forthcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal, according to the DAILY POST.
The squad is scheduled to play Poland in Warsaw on Wednesday, and will travel to Lieira to face former European champions Portugal on Wednesday, 10 June.
Both players were named in Chelle’s squad for the two matches two weeks ago.
Chelle explained that Atletico Madrid has requested Lookman be excused from the game, while Osimhen is currently working out the details of his future with Galatasaray.
“We miss two players because Victor Osimhen may be about to change clubs, so I prefer he stays at home; if he plays and is not at 100 percent it is not good,” the Malian coach told the Super Eagles media.
“For Lookman he is very tired, and Atletico has asked us to excuse him.”
The Super Eagles secured the Unity Cup in London on Saturday after a comfortable 3‑0 victory over Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz in the final.
