Ceasefire Deal: Hegseth Says Trump and the U.S. Will Reach an Agreement as Iran Concedes

The United States says Iran is gradually warming to the ongoing ceasefire talks between the two countries.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking on Saturday, expressed confidence that President Donald Trump would secure a deal with Iran.

Hegseth was addressing the Shangri‑La Dialogue, a defence summit in Singapore, and said that Iran understands the United States’ expectations.

“They’re moving in our direction and the talks have been productive. They know where it needs to go, and I’m quite confident with our president, who makes nothing but great deals,” he said.

Hegseth also noted that the Strait of Hormuz was frequently mentioned during his discussions with allies at the summit, emphasizing that the United States had reassured them.
