Midfielder Casemiro of Manchester United has ignited discussion in football circles after sharing his opinions on two of the most prominent players he once shared a dressing‑room with at Real Madrid – Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, during his appearance on the *Rio Ferdinand Presents* podcast, the Brazilian, who spent nine seasons with the Spanish club and collected several Champions League trophies, was asked to evaluate the talent he played alongside during Madrid’s period of dominance.
Casemiro drew a clear line between the two.
He placed Ronaldo at the very summit of football greatness.
Describing the Portuguese forward as “in another world,” he highlighted Ronaldo’s relentless goal‑scoring record and his consistency over the years.
When the conversation turned to overall ability rather than pure greatness, Casemiro identified Bale as the most “complete” player he ever played with.
He praised the Welshman’s combination of pace, strength, aerial power, attacking threat and defensive contribution, suggesting that Bale could affect every phase of a match.
In his words, Bale is “attack, defend, heads, scores,” and “unbelievable” in the breadth of his skill set.
“Cristiano is the best, he’s in another world. Take Cristiano out of the conversation. But for me, Bale is the best, most complete player.
Everything he does [is] very good. Very quick. Too strong. For me Bale is unbelievable.”
The remarks have naturally revived debate among supporters about how to define football greatness – whether it rests on dominance in a single area, such as Ronaldo’s extraordinary goal output, or on versatility across all aspects of the game, as Casemiro attributes to Bale.
During his tenure at Madrid, Casemiro was part of a legendary era that secured multiple Champions League and La Liga titles, playing alongside some of the most decorated athletes in modern football history.
