Caicedo and Pacho named to Ecuador’s World Cup squad

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo and Paris Saint‑Germain’s newly crowned Champions League winner Willian Pacho will lead Ecuador’s squad for the World Cup.

Piero Hincapie, who was part of the Arsenal side that lost in the European final in Budapest on Saturday, was also named to the squad on Sunday for the finals in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Enner Valencia, 36, will take part in his third World Cup final.

Ecuador is drawn in Group E and will open the tournament against Ivory Coast in Philadelphia on 14 June, then face debutants Curacao in Kansas City on 20 June, and Germany in New Jersey on 25 June.

The team will aim to reach the knockout stage after being eliminated in the group phase at the 2022 finals in Qatar.
