Bayer Leverkusen have stepped up their pursuit of Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Completesports.com reports.

TEAMtalk says the Bundesliga side has re‑opened contact with Rangers regarding the Nigeria international.

Fernandez joined Ibrox from English League One club Peterborough United last summer.

The centre‑back was named Rangers’ Player of the Season after a standout campaign that saw him score five times for the Light Blues.

The Nigeria international was also selected for the PFA Team of the Year.

More Clubs Interested In Fernandez

Borussia Dortmund, another Bundesliga club, have also expressed interest in Fernandez.

Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham United and Everton are reportedly monitoring him.

Rangers value Fernandez at around €25 million, a substantial rise from the £3.5 million they paid for him.

Negotiations are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks, with Bayer Leverkusen looking to pursue a potential deal.
