English Premier League club Brighton have confirmed the signing of Nigerian attacker Zadok Yohanna from Swedish Allsvenskan side AIK Stockholm, Afrik-Foot reports.
The transfer marks a significant milestone for the youngster, who will turn 19 on June 29. The Bauchi-born winger only moved to Europe from Ikon Allah FA last year, and his blistering displays in Sweden quickly caught the attention of top-tier scouts.
The Seagulls had to fend off stiff competition from clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle to secure the youngster’s services.

This fee places Yohanna among the club’s top ten most expensive signings of all time and establishes him as the most expensive sale in the history of the Swedish Allsvenskan.
Also, it makes the Super Eagles hopeful the most expensive Nigerian U20 player in history.
Given the complexity of the deal’s structure, here is the financial breakdown of Yohanna’s transfer:

Yohanna’s move represents a massive financial windfall for AIK Stockholm. For context, their previous record sale was Paul Abraham, who joined Groningen for €2 million two years ago.
Yohanna has signed a five-year contract, with the deal carrying a base fee of €28 million. This figure could rise to €30 million if the €2 million in add-ons—triggered by specific appearance milestones and performance targets—are met.

Although the Swedish league season concludes in November, Yohanna is expected to link up with his new club this summer to participate in pre-season training.
It remains to be seen, however, whether he will play a key role in the first team during the upcoming campaign.
The American Express Stadium has proven to be a fertile ground for young players to grow and blossom before getting moves to bigger sides. Yohanna will be hoping to follow the trend in a few years.
