Enugu Rangers crowned champions of NPFL for record ninth time

Rangers International F.C. secured a record‑equalling ninth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title after a 2‑1 victory over Ikorodu City F.C.

Captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scored once in each half, giving the Flying Antelopes a decisive win and clinching the championship ahead of close rivals Rivers United F.C.

The home side equalised in the 58th minute when substitute Moses Ali capitalised on a mistake by Rangers goalkeeper Lucky Jimoh, who failed to handle a long‑range shot.

Rangers finished the season at the top of the table with 68 points from 38 matches, one point clear of Rivers United, who closed their campaign with a 3‑0 win over Katsina United F.C.

This triumph marks coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s second league title with the Enugu‑based club and brings Rangers level with Enyimba F.C. for the most NPFL championships won.

Following the title, Rangers will represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League alongside runners‑up Rivers United.
