The Borno State Government has imposed a temporary ban on vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the Eid‑el‑Kabir celebrations to bolster security across the state.

The order, approved by Governor Babagana Zulum, was announced in a statement released on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar.

Under the directive, movement will be prohibited from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Eid day and will apply to all types of vehicles, including tricycles and motorcycles, throughout the state.

The government said the restriction is intended to ensure peaceful prayers and protect residents during the festive period.

Citizens were advised to attend prayers at the Eid grounds nearest to their homes to reduce traffic and aid security operations.

Security personnel, ambulances, fire service staff and other essential workers with valid identification are exempt from the ban.

The government also urged residents in all 27 local government areas to cooperate with security operatives and comply with the directive for public safety.

Parents and guardians were warned to discourage children and wards from engaging in acts that could disrupt public peace during the celebrations.

Governor Zulum called on residents to continue praying for lasting peace in Borno State and Nigeria.
