AI‑powered financial platform BMONI and Mastercard have announced a partnership to launch a new generation of virtual and physical payment cards for Nigerian consumers.

The cards, available in Naira and US dollar denominations, will be issued instantly through the BMONI app and can be used worldwide thanks to Mastercard’s global payment network.

According to the collaboration, users can create multiple cards—each tailored for specific purposes such as everyday spending, subscriptions, travel, savings, cross‑border payments, or remote work—within seconds. All card management, including activation and monitoring, is handled directly in the BMONI app.

Mastercard’s new card‑issuance models enable fintech companies in Nigeria to offer locally issued international card programs, accelerating the adoption of digital payments in the country.

With Nigeria’s e‑commerce market expected to surpass $26 billion by 2030, the demand for globally accepted, instantly issued digital payment solutions is rising.

“Nigeria’s digital economy is growing rapidly, and consumers need payment solutions that keep pace,” said Dr. Folasade Femi‑Lawal, country manager, West Africa at Mastercard. “Our collaboration with BMONI brings together Mastercard’s trusted global network with an innovative platform like BMONI to deliver real value to consumers: instant card access, multi‑currency flexibility, and seamless transactions across borders.”

Ashwin Ravichandran, Head of Product at BMONI, added, “At BMONI, our focus has always been simple: remove the friction between people and their money. This partnership with Mastercard allows us to deliver global access and a level of control that simply has not existed before.”

The BMONI Mastercard is now available. Users can download the BMONI app from the App Store or Google Play, complete identity verification, and start creating cards immediately.
