Bitcoin fell below $60,000 on Friday, marking its lowest level since October 2024, just before Donald Trump’s election that had pushed the price to a record high.
The cryptocurrency dropped roughly 6 percent around 1615 GMT, reaching $59.7709 before easing its losses slightly.
Trump’s election as a strong supporter of cryptocurrencies in November 2024 for a second term sparked enthusiasm in the market, driving bitcoin’s price up to nearly $110,000.
