According to a transcript of the testimony, Gates told members of Congress that the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had attempted to blackmail him over his extramarital affairs.
On June 10, Gates gave a closed‑door testimony to the House Oversight Committee about his friendship with the disgraced financier, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex crimes.
