Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have stepped up security operations in Benue and Taraba states, resulting in the elimination of four suspected criminals, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the dismantling of a drug trafficking syndicate.

The military said the operations involved coordinated raids, intelligence‑driven patrols, and clearance missions aimed at criminal hideouts in both states.

According to military officials, troops engaged armed suspects in separate encounters, neutralising four criminals. Security personnel also rescued abducted individuals who had been held captive by kidnappers operating in the region.

In a related development, soldiers uncovered and disrupted a drug distribution network during operations in parts of Benue and Taraba. Several illicit substances were seized, and suspects linked to the illegal trade were apprehended for further investigation.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining offensive operations against criminal elements that threaten peace and security in the North‑Central region.

Residents were urged to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and drug‑related crimes.

Authorities said the operations are part of broader measures aimed at restoring safety and stability in communities affected by criminal activity.
