The Benue State Government has officially launched the first phase of its International Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment Programme, a move aimed at equipping young people with skills that are relevant on a global scale.
The initiative, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, is being carried out in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment.
Training is currently taking place at the Republican Institute for Vocational Studies (RIPO) in Belarus, where selected participants have begun intensive artisanal instruction.
The curriculum blends classroom lessons with practical experience, concentrating on infrastructure development and a wide range of vocational disciplines.
Participants will acquire modern digital and technical skills designed to help them compete effectively in an increasingly dynamic global labour market.
This programme is a strategic investment in human capital, emphasizing certification and relevance to industry needs.
Governor Alia has also announced plans to broaden the initiative to cover the agricultural and automotive sectors, reflecting the administration’s commitment to sustainable youth empowerment and international cooperation.
The Benue delegation, headed by Benita Shuluwa, Director General of the Bureau of Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation, was formally welcomed by RIPO officials, and training activities began immediately.
Both the Benue State Government and RIPO have expressed optimism about strengthening their partnership, with discussions already underway to expand the programme to multiple Centres of Excellence within the institute.
The development is expected to open new pathways for skill acquisition, innovation, and global exposure for youths in Benue State.
