The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has severed ties with Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, labeling him an impostor and political con artist after he claimed to be the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
The clarification came after a purported Certificate of Return, which the party said was fake, was circulated by Agbo on social media to back his assertion of being the PDP’s governorship flagbearer.
State Secretary Comrade Dan Nyikwagh released a statement in which the PDP categorically denied that Agbo is its governorship candidate or that he has ever been recognized as such for the 2027 general elections.
The party warned that any publication, video, or statement portraying Agbo as its candidate constitutes impersonation and an attempt to mislead the public.
“Emmanuel Agbo is an imposter and a political con artist peddling and sponsoring fake news for selfish and mischievous reasons,” the statement said.
The PDP urged media outlets, social media users, and the public to dismiss Agbo’s claims, asserting that they are false and fraudulent.
The party also reaffirmed that Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN) is its duly affirmed governorship candidate for the 2027 election, having emerged through a transparent and unanimous consensus process that was endorsed by party leaders, stakeholders, members, and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The statement added that Aondoakaa’s emergence reflects the collective decision of the party and enjoys widespread support throughout the state.
The PDP warned that it would not tolerate actions that could create confusion within its ranks, noting that legal and constitutional measures have already been initiated against Agbo and others alleged to be involved in impersonation.
“Impersonating a party candidate is a serious offence, and the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on anyone engaging in such criminal conduct,” the party stated.
The party called on security agencies, the media, and residents of Benue State to stay vigilant and reject any narrative that portrays Emmanuel Agbo as the PDP governorship candidate.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding Benue State under the leadership of Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN.
