Benue Links Nigeria Limited has released additional information about the death of a passenger on one of its buses, responding to public questions about how the company sought the deceased’s relatives.
The company’s statement said that the contact details the passenger supplied for family members were unreachable after multiple attempts by staff.
Because of this, management turned to social media to request help from the public in locating and contacting the passenger’s family.
Benue Links announced that it has now successfully found and notified the family.
It also confirmed that the body was transported to Korinya, the passenger’s hometown, and placed in a morgue. All morgue fees have been paid while the family will decide on burial arrangements.
Management thanked the public for their concern, support and cooperation throughout the process.
The company reiterated its commitment to the welfare, dignity and respectful treatment of all passengers and customers.
While the statement details the steps taken after the passenger’s death, it does not disclose the cause of death, the passenger’s identity, or the circumstances that led to the medical emergency during the journey.
