President Bola Ahmed has appointed former House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the new director‑general of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), replacing Dakorinama Alabo George, a supporter of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced the change in a statement released on Friday.
George had resigned from his BCDA post to contest the 2027 Rivers State governorship election. He was ultimately defeated for the All Progressives Congress ticket by Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, the former minority leader of the 10th National Assembly.
Namdas, who served as a lawmaker in the 9th House of Representatives, had previously stepped down from his speakership bid in favor of Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu’s current chief of staff.
In addition to the BCDA appointment, President Tinubu named Patrick Obahiagbon, a former Edo State lawmaker known for his articulate speeches, as executive director of strategy and commercial for the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), succeeding Ogbeide‑Ihama.
Onanuga also confirmed that President Tinubu reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director of Corporate Services at the NDPHC.
