Dr. Domor Mienye, a governorship hopeful in Bayelsa State for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), urged Bayelsa residents to back credible and youthful candidates across all parties in the forthcoming elections.

Mienye stressed that Bayelsa’s future depends on the emergence of a new generation of leaders who possess the requisite skills, energy, and genuine commitment to guide the state toward sustainable progress and development.

His comments followed his endorsement of Mr. Joel Ebiegberi Ileberi as the APGA candidate for the Southern Ijaw Constituency Assembly seat.

He called on voters to look beyond party labels and to identify candidates who demonstrate vision, integrity, and the capacity to effect positive change in their communities.

Mienye highlighted the need to shift attention from blind party loyalty to a focus on competence, credibility, and a sincere dedication to Bayelsa’s advancement.

“We must begin to move away from politics driven purely by party loyalty and focus more on competence, credibility, and genuine commitment to the development of Bayelsa. This election should not simply be about political structures or familiar names. It should be about the future of Bayelsa and the kind of leadership we want to see going forward,” he stated.

While supporting Joel Ileberi as the APGA candidate for Southern Ijaw Constituency IV, Mienye urged Bayelsans to also recognize and back credible young candidates from other parties who genuinely prioritize the welfare of the people.

He reiterated that the upcoming election should not centre solely on political structures or familiar names but should aim to shape Bayelsa’s future through visionary leadership.

Mienye pointed out that the state’s persistent challenges stem from entrenched leadership that has failed to deliver substantial improvements for the populace despite long‑term tenure in office.

The politician called on voters to make informed and bold choices, emphasizing the need for a fresh wave of leadership capable of driving meaningful development in Bayelsa.

Mienye underscored the importance of incorporating younger voices into governance, noting untapped potential in Bayelsa’s agriculture, entrepreneurship, tourism, and blue‑economy sectors.

He appealed to voters, especially the youth, to actively participate in the democratic process and to support candidates who offer practical solutions and a clear development roadmap.

Mienye stressed that voters should evaluate candidates based on competence, accountability, and track record, insisting that elections must propel Bayelsa forward and create opportunities for future generations.
