Bauchi Permanent Secretary Passes Away During 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed expressed his sorrow following the death of Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam, the Permanent Secretary of Special Services in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Jalam passed away in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

The former Turakin Dawakin Misau died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness while participating in the pilgrimage.

In a statement released by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor described Jalam as a dedicated and hardworking public servant who had made significant contributions to the state’s development.

Mohammed highlighted Jalam’s key role in coordinating previous Hajj operations and other government assignments entrusted to him, noting that his loss would be deeply felt by the Bauchi State Government, his family, colleagues and the wider community.

The statement announced that funeral prayers for the deceased would take place later in the day after the Zuhur prayer at the Holy Mosque of the Ka’aba in Makkah.

Governor Mohammed extended condolences to the deceased’s family, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the Office of the Head of Civil Service, and the Misau and Dambam Emirate Councils. He prayed that Allah forgive any shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
