Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, the son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has urged his father to accelerate the payment of overdue gratuities to state retirees in order to ease their financial strain.

The appeal was made through a Facebook post titled “Bridging the Gap: A Call for a Human-Capital Focused Policy.”

In the post, Shamsuddeen praised his father’s administration for its infrastructure achievements over the past seven years, noting that roads, schools and hospitals have reshaped the state’s landscape and will be remembered by future generations.

He also highlighted the hardship faced by families of retired civil servants who are still awaiting their gratuity payments, explaining that the delay has intensified the economic difficulties many households endure.

“The prevailing sentiment on the ground is that while infrastructure is vital, it does not alleviate the immediate economic hardship, the struggle for daily sustenance, or the pain of families still awaiting civil service gratuities, hence the need to pay retirees’ gratuities,” he said.
