Bauchi Governor Mourns Former Deputy Governor Audu Katagum

BAUCHI — Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State expressed profound sorrow following the death of former Deputy Governor Audu Sule Katagum, calling his passing a significant loss to the state's political and traditional institutions.

Katagum, who held the title Wazirin Katagum, died on Saturday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja.

In a condolence message, Governor Mohammed characterized the late statesman as a loyal, patriotic public servant who devoted his life to serving humanity with humility and decorum.

He recalled Katagum’s contributions while serving as deputy governor under former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, and his role as Chairman of the Governing Board of Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education in Kangere, where he showed a commitment to good governance, stability, and the development of Bauchi State.

Mohammed noted that beyond politics and public service, the deceased was an accomplished architect whose expertise significantly advanced the state's physical and infrastructural development.

According to the governor, Katagum’s knowledge, experience, and dedication to excellence advanced sustainable development and improved Bauchi State’s built environment, leaving enduring legacies that will benefit future generations.

He also praised the late Wazirin Katagum for his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to Bauchi State’s unity and progress, noting that his leadership and counsel earned him respect across political, traditional, and social divides.

The governor urged the family, associates, the Katagum Emirate, and the people of Bauchi State to find comfort in the exemplary life and achievements of the deceased, whose contributions to society will remain indelible in the state’s history.

Mohammed extended his condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, the Emir of Katagum, the Katagum Emirate Council, friends, associates, and all affected by the loss.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
