The Bauchi State Government has supplied seven motorcycles to a special security patrol team, a move intended to enhance the protection of residents and public property throughout the state.

Retired Deputy Inspector General Sani Usman Muhammed, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced the delivery yesterday while handing the motorcycles to patrol members in the Bauchi metropolis.

He said the initiative was approved by Governor Bala Mohammed after rising concerns about the activities of miscreants and cult groups that continue to threaten peace, safety and order in parts of the state.

Commissioner Muhammed described the support as a positive step, warning that unchecked deviant behaviour among youths could eventually develop into serious criminal activity in affected communities.

He expressed confidence that the new motorcycles would improve surveillance, strengthen rapid‑response capabilities and support ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across Bauchi State.

The special patrol team is made up of vigilante members operating under the State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, together with volunteers from the Peace and Reconciliation Committee who are supervised by ministry officials.

While urging proper use of the motorcycles, Sani Usman assured residents that the ministry would closely monitor the patrol team’s operations to ensure accountability, efficiency and enhanced security.
