The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed former senator Halliru Dauda Jika as its sole governorship candidate in Bauchi State for the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation took place in Bauchi with the presence of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and also produced the party’s candidates for senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.

Ishaya Bauka, chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee for the governorship and legislative primaries, said the exercise followed due process to endorse the party’s candidates. He added that the committee was tasked with affirming Jika as the ADC governorship flagbearer and with overseeing the selection of other elective candidates.

Bauka further noted that the three senatorial candidates in the state emerged unopposed and were subsequently affirmed.

In his acceptance speech, Jika thanked party leaders and supporters for their confidence, expressing optimism that the ADC would win the 2027 elections. “By the grace of God, from 2027, Bauchi State will become an ADC state from top to bottom and from bottom to top,” he said. He also emphasized his confidence in the party’s leadership and supporters across the state.

Shu’aibu Abdullahi Dankama, the Bauchi State Chairman of the ADC, stated that the party had fielded credible candidates for various elective offices and was fully prepared for the 2027 polls. He highlighted that stakeholders unanimously endorsed Jika because of his political experience and broad acceptability throughout the state.

The affirmed senatorial candidates are Garba Dahiru Salanke for Bauchi South Senatorial District, Abdul Ahmed Ningi for Bauchi Central, and Nazif Gamawa for Bauchi North Senatorial District.
