BASIEC Issues 60‑Day Notice Ahead of Bauchi Council Election

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has issued the required 60‑day notice for local government council elections set for August 17, 2026, across the state.

The notice appeared in a statement signed by the commission’s Secretary, Nuru Abdulhamid, and was made available to journalists in Bauchi.

According to the commission, the notice was issued in accordance with the Bauchi State Electoral Law, which mandates that BASIEC formally inform registered political parties, stakeholders, and the public ahead of local government elections.

The commission noted that it had previously issued a 360‑day notice in August 2025, in line with legal requirements, to give parties and other stakeholders ample time to prepare for the polls.

BASIEC urged all political parties that intend to participate to finalize their internal arrangements and ensure full compliance with the Electoral Law and the commission’s guidelines.

It added that further details—such as the election timetable, procedures, and other relevant information—will be released in due course.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, transparent, and credible election that reflects the wishes of the people of Bauchi State.
