Suspected armed Fulani bandits killed two people and wounded three others during an assault on a burial gathering in Angwar Magaji village, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The incident was reported in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter‑insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.
According to Makama, citing security sources, the attack took place in the early hours of Wednesday when the assailants stormed the community and opened fire on mourners at a burial ceremony.
Troops deployed under Operation Enduring Peace responded to a distress call and rushed to the scene.
When the troops arrived, they found that two residents had been killed and three others had sustained varying degrees of injury during the attack.
The wounded were evacuated to the Primary Health Care Centre in Barkin Kogi for medical treatment.
Military authorities said that efforts were underway to locate and apprehend the attackers.
