Bandits have reportedly abducted Auwal Mas’ud Shitu, a third‑year Pure and Industrial Chemistry student at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University in Katsina State.
The incident was announced on Monday in a post on X by Bakatsine, a journalist who covers conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.
Bakatsine said Shitu was taken on Sunday, 17 May 2026, while traveling from Charanchi to Dutsin‑Ma.
According to the report, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦20 million, an amount the family claims it cannot afford.
He added: “Bandits have abducted Auwal Mas’ud Shitu, a 300‑level Pure & Industrial Chemistry student at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina State.”
“He was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday, 17 May 2026, while traveling from Charanchi to Dutsin‑Ma. The abductors are demanding ₦20 million ransom, an amount the family reportedly cannot afford.”
