Bala Mohammed denies plan to join Jonathan’s 2027 ticket

…Denies plan to dump APM

Governor Bala Mohammed has denied reports that he intends to leave the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and become the running mate of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2027 general elections.

The statement came after social‑media posts suggested that Mohammed was being considered as Jonathan’s vice‑presidential candidate by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The speculation intensified when a PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki announced Jonathan as its presidential candidate on Saturday. Jonathan was formally ratified as the faction’s flag bearer at a special national convention in Abuja, where his certificate of return was received on his behalf by Fred Agbedi.

Responding to a post by Nuhu Sada on X that implied Mohammed might join Jonathan’s ticket, the Bauchi governor called the claims “false and speculative.”

Mohammed said his political focus remains on contesting the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in 2027 on the APM platform.

“Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” he said.

He urged the public to ignore any reports suggesting a different course, stating that he has no plans to abandon his current ambition.

“Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” the governor added.

Mohammed’s clarification comes amid growing realignments and speculation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
