Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and other candidates of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) have received their expression‑of‑interest and nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.
APM Chairman Hon. Auwal Isa handed the forms to all party aspirants yesterday, marking the beginning of the preparation process that will lead to screening, clearance and eventual submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in accordance with the 2027 electoral guidelines.
The governor was the first to receive the documents, as he aims to become the first former governor of Bauchi to be elected to the Senate.
Other recipients included the two additional senatorial aspirants, the House of Representatives candidates, and the State House of Assembly aspirants.
A wider stakeholder meeting of the APM had previously agreed on a consensus for candidate selection. The gubernatorial ticket was allocated to the Bauchi North Senatorial Zone, with former Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development Yakubu Adamu chosen as the gubernatorial candidate and Mahmud Babamaji, the current Executive Chairperson of Bauchi Local Government Council and Chairman of ALGON, selected as the running mate.
Farouk Mustapha, one of the aspirants for the ticket, confirmed his support for the governor’s decision in a viral video posted on his Facebook page.
Chairman Isa expressed satisfaction with the amicable resolution of the issues, noting that it demonstrated political maturity among all stakeholders. He also conveyed optimism that the party’s growing acceptance and popularity across the state and the country could yield surprising results in the 2027 general elections.
