The presidency has voiced security concerns over remarks made by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, about the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

According to DAILY POST, Lawal announced his resignation from the ADC on Monday and claimed that Atiku is a manipulator, asserting that the recent primary election had been predetermined to favor the former vice president.

He said the primary elections at all levels were “massively rigged to favour Kachalla Abubakar Atiku.”

Lawal further alleged that the results from the polls were “just written or rewritten to favour him and his coven.”

In response, Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala posted on his official X account that the former SGF’s statements, if verified, are “scary” and could undermine Nigeria’s national security.

Bwala said that plans by opposition leaders to remove President Tinubu in 2027 had been exposed, noting that Tinubu remains the best candidate.

He added that in the past two or three months, “these people were talking about how they were made from heaven as one indivisible and indisoluble coalition sent by God to come and rescue Nigeria; and alas all their intentions and plans have been exposed.”

Bwala concluded that with the allegations against some opposition candidates, “the choice for 2027 has never been more clearer. President Tinubu in all honesty is a million miles ahead of them.”
