American rapper Azealia Banks has said that Nigerians are not receptive to Black Americans.
The “212” hitmaker described Nigerians as “cold‑hearted” and claimed they push Black Americans away.
On her X account, she wrote, “I don’t want to be Nigerian because Nigerian people are cold‑hearted and push black Americans away.”
She contrasted this with Ghana, saying the country is more welcoming to Black Americans and that she is proud of her Ghanaian heritage.
The statement drew criticism from Nigerians, who accused Banks of stereotyping.
Despite the backlash, Banks continued to target Nigerians in subsequent posts.
