The campaign team of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has clarified why the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has not yet been formally announced as the party’s vice‑presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
In a post on X yesterday, Atiku’s media aide Abdulrasheed Shehu said the delay was due to the presidential candidate’s current travel schedule. Shehu did not disclose the destination of the trip.
This explanation followed a separate X post claiming that the ADC was experiencing internal discord and that Amaechi had not yet accepted the party’s offer.
Shehu replied, “Atiku/Amaechi is settled. His Excellency is on a short business trip. Once he returns, Amaechi will be officially unveiled in a few days as the VP candidate. Stop posting fake news.”
The update came after a period of uncertainty and conflicting reports that followed the ADC’s announcement of its 2027 presidential candidate.
