At 78, Wabara Criticizes APC, Claiming the Party Promised Change but Caused Pain

Former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara has urged Nigerians to unite and free the country from the perceived mismanagement of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the APC has driven the nation into hardship, poverty, unemployment and insecurity, contrary to the change it promised when it took office in 2015.

In a message on his 78th birthday, Wabara highlighted the importance of the 2027 general election for Nigeria’s survival and called on opposition parties to join forces to remove the APC from power.

He warned voters not to sell their future by giving away their votes, arguing that Nigeria, a country rich in resources, should not be trapped in severe poverty. He blamed the APC’s leadership style for the decline in the nation’s fortunes.

“Nigeria’s greatest problem is not a lack of resources or talent. Our greatest problem is bad leadership. A nation blessed with abundant wealth and extraordinary human capital should not be battling the level of poverty, hunger, unemployment and insecurity we see today,” said Wabara.

Expressing concern over the rising cost of living, eroding purchasing power, increasing unemployment and growing hopelessness among ordinary Nigerians, the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees Chairman said it was time for change.

“Millions of Nigerians can no longer afford the basic necessities of life. Businesses are shutting down, investors are losing confidence, families are struggling to survive, while insecurity continues to spread across various parts of the country,” he said.

“Every day, innocent Nigerians live in fear. Farmers are unable to access their farms, communities are under siege and criminal elements appear emboldened. Security is the primary responsibility of government, and citizens deserve better protection,” he added.

“This is not the Nigeria our founding fathers envisioned,” he cried.
