Nigeria's appeal against the disqualification of Favour Ashe in the men's 100 metre event at the African Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana, was upheld, according to Making of Champions.
Ashe had been ruled out of his opening race on Tuesday after being judged to have false‑started.
The Nigerian federation argued that the decision was unfair, citing repeated failures of the starting gun during the 100 metre heats.
Consequently, Ashe will compete in a solo race that will decide whether he can advance to the semi‑finals.
The solo race is scheduled for Tuesday evening.
In the same session, Esther Okon ran in the women's 400 metre, placed second in her heat and secured qualification for the next round.
