Favour Ashe secured a place in the men’s 100‑metre semifinals at the African Athletics Championships, completing a solo race after his protest against a disqualification was upheld.
He recorded a time of 10.55 seconds, ranking 24th overall and confirming his spot in the men’s 100 m semifinals scheduled for Wednesday.
The Nigerian sprinter had initially been disqualified for a false start, but was reinstated after Nigeria’s appeal was successful.
Meanwhile, Team Nigeria closed Day One of the championships with two medals in the women’s discus competition.

In her international debut for Nigeria, Divine Oladipo earned a silver medal by finishing second in the event.
Oladipo’s teammate, Obiageri Amaechi, secured Nigeria’s third podium spot with a bronze medal.
