Abia North Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu has identified security crises in parts of the country as the only challenge to the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Kalu, who was addressing APC members and his support groups in his Igbere country home on Friday, said that movement of arms from Mali, Libya and Burkina Faso axis of Africa into Nigeria through land borders, are posing challenges to President Tinubu’s economic efforts.
He noted that foreign exchange and fuel subsidy removal policies of the President have been attracting foreign investments but observed that insecurity is the only factor delaying the stimulation of the manufacturing sector.
He said, “President Ahmed Tinubu has performed very well in the economy but because of insecurity in different parts of the Nigeria, the economy is still having some challenges.
“Mali got off, Libya got off, Burkina Faso got off, all the arms from these axis are crossing into Nigeria. President Tinubu is fighting insecurity, he is seriously fighting insecurity,” Kalu said.
The Abia North Senator charged the members of the APC in Abia North and other parts of Abia to work for the victory of President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.
On the issue of State Police Bill recently passed by the Senate, the former Abia State Governor said the fear being expressed by Nigerians about governors abusing it, would be addressed by the Executive arm and the Senate
He disclosed that a Bill that will become an Act of the Parliament, would be put in place by the Executive arm and the Senate to regulate the conduct of the Federal Police Service and the State Police.
“Some people are afraid. I can see some of my Northern friends and Southern friends saying that Governors will use it against their enemies.
“No, we are going to take care of all those clauses where any body could abuse the State Police. We are going to look at the Bill to make sure they are favourable to Nigerians,” Kalu assured Nigerians.
