On the night of May 11, 2026, suspected gunmen abducted Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, a middle‑aged businessman, from his home in the Irawo community of Atisbo Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, who said the perpetrators had reportedly followed the victim from Kraal Market in Ago‑Are before carrying out the kidnapping.

Witnesses said the armed men discharged several shots into the air to disperse onlookers and residents, creating panic in the neighbourhood.

During the attack, a 10‑year‑old girl named Modinat Aleshinloye was hit by a stray bullet and suffered gunshot injuries.

Modinat is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, while the location of the abducted businessman remains unknown at the time of this report.

Sources indicated that the kidnappers have not yet contacted the victim’s family to demand a ransom.

DSP Olayinka said: “A case of abduction was reported at Tede Division on May 11, 2026 at about 10:20 p.m.”

“Preliminary investigation shows that Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye was followed from Kraal Market, Ago‑Are, to his filling station in Irawo and then to his residence, where three armed men seized him at gunpoint and took him to an unknown location.”

“During the incident, Modinat Aleshinloye, a 10‑year‑old female, sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment and pellet extraction.”

The police spokesperson added that investigators who examined the scene recovered three spent cartridges, now being subjected to ballistic analysis, and three face caps believed to have been worn by the suspects. He said tactical and intelligence‑driven operations are underway to locate the victim and bring the perpetrators to justice.
