Armed bandits kidnap six residents of Kebbi community

Armed men suspected to be bandits abducted six people during a nighttime raid on Unguwan Dutse in Wasagu Town, Wasagu District, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The incident was reported by security analyst and counter‑insurgency expert Zagazola Makama in a post on his X account.

Security officials say the attack took place on 5 June at about 00:40 hrs. The assailants, reportedly equipped with advanced weapons, entered the community from a forest route that is thought to continue into neighbouring Zamfara State.

According to the report, the attackers seized six residents, including Lawali Kabir (34), Ubaida Jabir (3), Fatima Jabir (27), Mardiyya Fahad (28), and two children of Mardiyya Fahad.

After a distress alert was raised at about 03:40 hrs, a joint team of police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes was dispatched to the scene.

By the time the security forces arrived, the attackers had already fled with their victims.

Security sources say coordinated search and rescue operations have since intensified across surrounding forests and escape routes, aiming to recover the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

Authorities confirm that efforts are ongoing and that additional patrols have been deployed to strengthen security presence in the area.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
