On Wednesday, Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa urged French forward Kylian Mbappe to demonstrate “his commitment” during the final three matches of the season.

In recent weeks Mbappe has been criticised by some Madrid supporters, partly because he travelled to Sardinia while recuperating from a thigh injury.

The striker was absent for Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Barcelona in the Clasico on Sunday, a result that secured the Catalan side’s second consecutive La Liga title and left Los Blancos without a trophy for the campaign.

Arbeloa told reporters, “If he’s there and can complete the training session and is available, then he’ll definitely get some minutes… and the chance in these three games to keep showing the commitment he has to the club.”

The Spanish coach added that he hopes the league’s top scorer, Mbappe, will feature and continue “scoring goals, showing, as I’ve said, the commitment he has to Real Madrid and that, as a coach but above all as a Madridista, is what I’d like to see.”

Arbeloa stated that he believes France captain Mbappe has given 100 percent to the squad ahead of Thursday’s La Liga fixture against relegated Real Oviedo.

Mbappe may face whistles from Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Arbeloa said, “All my players (have), I couldn’t think otherwise, I couldn’t believe that a Real Madrid player doesn’t give absolutely everything he has for the club, because then he wouldn’t know where he is.”
