APP publishes timetable for 2027 general election primaries

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has released a detailed timetable for its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, following approval by the party’s National Working Committee.

This announcement serves as a formal notice to all aspirants and stakeholders in Imo State, urging them to begin preparations in accordance with the outlined schedule.

According to the timetable issued by the National Office, pre‑primary activities began on 6 May 2026 with the publication of the notice for primary elections at all levels.

Submission of completed nomination and expression of interest forms will run from 6 May to 25 May 2026, and the list of cleared aspirants will be published on 27 May 2026.

The party has set specific dates for primaries across various elective positions.

The Presidential Primary is scheduled for 27 May 2026 at the National Headquarters, to be held by 12 noon.

The Governorship Primary will take place on 30 May 2026 at the State Secretariats from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The Senate Primary is set for 29 May 2026 at the Senatorial District Headquarters from 12 pm to 5 pm, while the House of Representatives Primary will be held on 29 May 2026 at the Federal Constituency Headquarters from 9 am to 12 pm.

The House of Assembly Primary will be conducted on 30 May 2026 at the Local Government Area Headquarters from 9 am to 12 pm.

These details were released in a statement issued on Friday by the party’s Imo State publicity secretary, Steve Nnadi, and were made available to journalists in Owerri.

The timetable also outlines the fees for nomination and expression of interest forms.

The Presidential Nomination Form is set at 17 seven million naira, with an expression of interest fee of three million naira.

Governorship aspirants must pay seven million naira for nomination and three million naira for expression of interest.

Senatorial aspirants are required to pay three million naira for nomination and two million naira for expression of interest, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay three million naira for nomination and one million naira for expression of interest.

For the House of Assembly, the nomination form costs one million naira, and the expression of interest fee is five hundred thousand naira.

The party also announced that women and persons living with disabilities will receive free nomination forms, underscoring its commitment to inclusiveness and equal participation in the democratic process.

The timetable was formally endorsed by National Chairman Barrister Uchenna Nnadi and National Secretary Abu Ibrahim Bossan at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
