We didn’t disqualify any Ebonyi Assembly aspirant – APC screening committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee for aspirants into the Ebonyi House of Assembly says it did not disqualify any aspirant during its screening exercise in Abakaliki.

Committee Chairman Valentine Akwuba said in an interview with reporters that the committee’s recommendations have been forwarded to the party’s national secretariat.

According to Akwuba, no petition was filed against any of the 24 aspirants because the committee carried out the screening thoroughly.

“We documented the aspirants’ qualifications, expertise, party membership among other information as directed by the national secretariat.”

“There was no stumbling block to a seamless process as the next step is appeal,” he said.

He added that the aspirants were not charged any levy, noting that all required payments were already made when the forms were purchased.

“All payments were made to the national secretariat as the aspirants only presented themselves for screening,” he said.

Among those screened were the Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Moses Odunwa, and the Deputy Speaker, Chinedu Onah.

Former Senate President Pius Anyim’s son, Chisom Anyim, was also among the candidates examined by the committee. (NAN)
