The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced new dates for its National Assembly primary elections in Zamfara State.
In a statement released on Saturday, the party’s national spokesman Felix Morka confirmed that the state House of Assembly primary will take place on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, and the governorship primary will be held on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
Morka also noted that the presidential primary remains scheduled for Monday, 23 May 2026.
The statement outlined the timetable for primary election appeals in the state.
Appeals related to the House of Representatives primary are set for Tuesday, 19 May 2026, while Senate primary appeals will be heard on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
Appeals for the House of Assembly primary are scheduled for Thursday, 21 May 2026, and governorship primary appeals will be held on Friday, 22 May 2026.
The reason for the rescheduling was not provided.
The statement read: “The House of Representatives primary election will now hold on Monday, 18 May 2026, while the Senate primary has been fixed for Tuesday, 19 May 2026.”
Daily Post reports that the party’s national leadership had previously postponed its House of Representatives primary elections by one day, moving them from Friday, 15 May to Saturday, 16 May 2026, while keeping the dates for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship and presidential primaries unchanged.
