APC Primaries: Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, Gajere secure Kebbi senatorial tickets

Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi and retired General Jafar Muhammad Gajere have been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the Kebbi North and Kebbi South senatorial districts, respectively, following consensus arrangements.

APC Primary Election Committee Chairman Garba Muhammad announced the outcome on Monday at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin‑Kebbi during the party’s senatorial primary.

He stated that Senator Abdullahi would represent the party in Kebbi North, while retired General Gajere would contest the seat in Kebbi South.

Gajere’s nomination came unopposed after Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, the incumbent senator for Kebbi South, resigned from the APC.

Governor Nasir Idris, who attended the primary, noted that all senatorial candidates in the state were chosen through consensus after other aspirants withdrew in the interest of party unity.

He said the consensus process demonstrated the APC’s unity, discipline, and political maturity in Kebbi State and expressed confidence that the party would win in the upcoming general elections.

Following the announcement, Senator Abdullahi thanked Governor Idris and other party leaders for their support and confidence. Retired General Gajere likewise expressed gratitude to the governor and APC stakeholders, pledging to work for the unity and progress of the party in Kebbi South.

Both candidates urged APC members to stay united and mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
