APC Primaries: Gen Abdulsalami’s son wins Niger State House of Representatives ticket

Adamu Abubakar, son of former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the House of Representatives seat in Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger State.

The primary took place on Saturday, covering all 11 wards of the constituency.

Returning Officer Dan Islam reported that Abubakar received 30,650 votes, defeating his nearest competitor, Nmaa Ahmed, who garnered 1,271 votes. A third candidate, Shuaibu Mairago, obtained 311 votes.

Islam declared Abubakar the winner and the APC’s candidate for the forthcoming election.

In Lapai Federal Constituency, Returning Officer Ibrahim Usman announced that Abdullahi Mahmud won the APC primary with 8,559 votes.

Usman noted that Sadiqu Mustapha received 395 votes and Mahawiya Yusuf secured 247 votes in the contest held across 10 wards.

Mahmud was subsequently nominated as the party’s candidate for the constituency.

Prof. Yakubu Auna also emerged victorious in the APC primary for the Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency.
