APC Presidential Primary: Tinubu Receives 407,646 Votes in Delta

President Bola Tinubu secured 407,646 votes on Saturday, winning the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Primary Election in Delta State. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Tinubu captured every vote cast in the 270 polling units across the 25 local government areas of the state, while his opponent, Mr. Stanley Osifo, received no votes.
Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, the State Coordinator and Returning Officer for the APC primary, announced Tinubu’s victory at the state collation centre in Asaba. His declaration was based on reports from collation officers in each ward and local government area, all confirming Tinubu’s win statewide.
Oborevwori noted that the APC had 467,815 registered members in Delta, with 407,646 members accredited and participating in the primary. He stated that Tinubu’s 407,646 votes overwhelmingly defeated Osifo’s zero votes.
He declared: “By the powers conferred on me as the State Coordinator and Returning Officer, I hereby declare that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has polled overwhelming votes in the presidential primary election, is hereby declared winner. And he is returned elected as the presidential candidate of the party in Delta.”
Oborevwori praised party members and stakeholders for conducting a peaceful and orderly exercise, describing the process as successful and reflective of internal party unity.
In his remarks, APC Chairman in Delta, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, thanked party members for the smooth conduct of the primary. He said, “Today is the climax of the party primaries which started from the House of Representatives, Senate, House of Assembly, Governorship and Presidential, which ended today. We thank God for the peaceful conduct of all the primary elections across Delta.” He added that the presidential primary concluded the APC’s internal electoral processes ahead of the next phase of the party’s political activities.
NAN also reported that the declaration took place in the presence of security agents, media, and key party stakeholders. President Tinubu’s agent, Funkekeme Solomon, and Mr. Stanley Osifo’s agent, Mr. Kelvin Ezekiel, along with the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, witnessed the process.
In an interview, Osifo’s agent, Ezekiel, expressed satisfaction with the election outcome and urged all party members to support Tinubu in the general elections. Tinubu’s agent also urged Osifo to be a good sportsman and support the president in moving the party to victory in 2027.
The process culminated with agents Solomon and Ezekiel signing the result sheet in affirmation of Tinubu’s victory. (NAN)
