APC endorses Abba Kabir Yusuf as sole consensus governorship candidate in Kano

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed Abba Kabir Yusuf as its sole consensus candidate for the upcoming governorship election, a decision party leaders said marks a significant step toward strengthening unity within the party.

The endorsement was made at a large party congress held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where thousands of supporters, delegates and political stakeholders from across Kano State gathered to reaffirm their backing of the governor’s administration.

The event drew several prominent APC figures, including members of the National Assembly, party executives and influential political leaders, underscoring the importance of the congress ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin presented the motion for Governor Yusuf’s adoption, praising the governor’s leadership style and developmental achievements. He said the administration had strengthened public confidence in the party and that continuity was justified by the governor’s performance in critical sectors.

The motion was seconded by Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who representing Kano South Senatorial District, declared that APC supporters across the state were firmly behind the governor and ready to secure victory in the next governorship election.

After the motion was adopted, delegates at the congress overwhelmingly affirmed Governor Yusuf as the APC’s sole consensus candidate, amid cheers and applause from party faithful.

Speaking on behalf of the national leadership, Congress chairman Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari described the endorsement as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to good governance and grassroots development. He noted that the massive turnout and support demonstrated that the people of Kano State appreciated the governor’s programmes and policies, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth development.

Shagari expressed confidence that the APC would achieve another electoral victory in Kano State, stressing that the party remains focused on sustaining its achievements and expanding development across the state.

In his remarks, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf thanked party leaders and supporters for their confidence and pledged to intensify efforts toward delivering more dividends of democracy to the people. He assured residents that his administration would continue to execute projects aimed at improving living standards and boosting economic growth across Kano State.

The governor also promised to uphold the trust placed in him by the party and the people, reaffirming his commitment to transparent governance and inclusive leadership.

The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for unity among party members as supporters celebrated what many described as a strong show of solidarity and political strength ahead of the forthcoming election.
