APC confirms 74 candidates cleared after peaceful, transparent Oyo representative primaries.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that its House of Representatives primaries in Oyo State were carried out peacefully and transparently across all 14 federal constituencies, and that 74 candidates have been cleared to contest the 2027 general elections.

Prof. Mojeed Alabi, chairman of the APC National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Oyo State, made the announcement on Saturday during a briefing with journalists at the party secretariat in Oke‑Ado, Ibadan.

Alabi, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, expressed satisfaction with how the primaries were conducted, noting that there were no incidents of violence or major disputes.

He disclosed that 74 aspirants had been cleared by the APC National Secretariat to participate in the state’s House of Representatives primaries.

“Seventy-four aspirants were cleared by the National Secretariat. We don’t have the number of the uncleared aspirants,” he said.

Alabi explained that the panel’s mandate was to supervise the elections, monitor the process in every constituency, collate results, ensure compliance with party guidelines, and submit its report to the APC National Secretariat for final ratification and announcement.

“Our responsibility is to superintend over the process, collate the results, ensure that things are done properly, and transmit our report to the national executive of the party. It is the national leadership that has the final authority to declare the results,” Alabi stated.

He added that the primaries were held simultaneously across wards within each federal constituency, rather than at a single central venue, in accordance with the party’s established procedures.

“We are to conduct the National Assembly primaries in all the 14 federal constituencies. Our own work is to superintend, collate the results and submit the reports to the National Secretariat. It is the National Secretariat that will announce the results of the elections,” Alabi said.

“We are not to stay at a particular place. We are to monitor the elections. Our committee is not an appeal committee.”
