APC Calls Oye/Ikole Poll Inconclusive Due to Violence in Ekiti NASS Primary

Ado‑Ekiti—The All Progressive Congress (APC) has declared the National Assembly primary election in Ekiti North Federal Constituency I, which covers Oye and Ikole Local Governments, inconclusive after reports of violence in several polling stations.

Wasiu Adedoyin, Chairman of the party’s National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Ekiti State, made the announcement in Ado‑Ekiti, the state capital, while presenting the primary results.

Adedoyin explained that “pockets of crisis” had emerged in some voting areas, and that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC would decide whether to appoint a new committee to finish the process or to direct the current committee to produce a final result.

He added that the committee would remain within its mandate, particularly because the party’s Senate primaries are scheduled for Monday.

Adedoyin urged members and stakeholders in Oye and Ikole to await further instructions from the NWC regarding the completion of the primary in the constituency.

His statement read: “As we are all aware, we have six federal constituencies in Ekiti. But the issue in Ekiti North One, which comprises Oye and Ikole, is going to be handled by the National Working Committee of the party. There were pockets of crisis in some of the votes yesterday and the process was not completed. As a result of that, I will not be announcing any results for Oye and Ikole Federal Constituency. There is no window for Oye and Ikole in the timetable given to us. It is the National Working Committee that can decide what to do, whether they will send another committee to come and conclude the job or they will send us back. Tomorrow is for the Senate. We will not want to overstep our bounds by doing what we are not allowed to do. But that is not part of our instruction. So the people of Oye and Ikole should await what the National Working Committee of the party will say.”

In the other constituencies, the results were announced as follows:

Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I – incumbent lawmaker Steve Olusola Fatoba won with 8,943 votes, defeating four challengers.

Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II – Oladapo Karounwi secured 6,573 votes, beating incumbent Abiodun Omoleye, who received 2,096 votes.

Ekiti South Federal Constituency I – Okoro Toyin Zaccheaus obtained 9,798 votes, surpassing incumbent Rufus Adeni Ojuawo, who had 1,842 votes.

Ekiti South Federal Constituency II – incumbent Richard Bamisile polled 4,379 votes, defeating seven opponents.

Ekiti North Federal Constituency II – Ibrahim Olanrewaju received 6,856 votes, defeating incumbent Kolawole Akinlayo, who scored 2,102 votes.
