Anambra State Police Command has secured the remand of Mr. Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40, and his wife, Mrs. Chisom Chukwuyere, 30, in a correctional centre following allegations that they abused a 10‑year‑old boy in Isiowulu.

This information was released on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to the statement: “The suspects were arraigned in court after preliminary investigations were completed. The case attracted public concern after reports and video footage of the victim appeared on social media.”
The police praised local residents for their vigilance, cooperation, and timely provision of information that helped rescue the child and ensure he received necessary medical care while the suspects were taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the Command has begun investigating an alleged child‑trafficking incident. Police operatives attached to Awada Divisional Headquarters rescued a female suspect from an angry mob at Divine Mercy Hospital, Eze Iweka Road, Awada, Obosi.
Police said the suspect, Anurika, 37, allegedly entered the hospital premises on the afternoon of June 23 2026 wearing attire resembling that of a nurse. She was observed secretly recording newborn babies in the maternity ward.
“An eyewitness reported that on the afternoon of 23 June 2026, the suspect entered the hospital disguised as a nurse and was seen making covert video recordings of newborns in the maternity ward,” the statement read. “When questioned by hospital staff and others present, she claimed to be an employee of the hospital. However, hospital management confirmed that she was not a staff member.”
The suspect is now in protective custody and is assisting investigators in identifying others involved in the alleged criminal network.
The police said that further updates on the investigations would be communicated as they become available.
